Rapid Eye Technology
Rapid Eye Technology was conceived of and developed by Ranae
Johnson (author of Reclaim Your Light through the Miracle
of Rapid Eye Technology and Winter’s Flower) and consists
of two major parts:
- Discharge of negative emotional elements
- Education
The first part, discharge, is accomplished through the use
of special techniques and processes for eye movement and blinking.
The eye movement and blinking is orchestrated by the energetic
and purposeful use of an "eye directing device"
known as a wand. A practitioner directs the eye movements,
blinking, and wand movements according to specific patterns
based on the work of Ranae Johnson, Richard Bandler, John
Grinder, Fritz Perls, Milton Erickson, and Virginia Satir.
The second part, education, comes in the way of Skills for
Life training. The Skills for Life consist of basic principles
for successfully navigating life. Based on sound psychological
concepts, the Skills for Life training helps participants
understand life in such a way as to avoid or better deal with
current and future stress.
Although Rapid Eye Technology might be considered a spiritual
therapy model, it requires no adherence to any religious practice,
doctrine, creed, or belief and works just as well within a
religious context as without.
Rapid Eye Technology practitioners, known as technicians,
are trained according to the strict guidelines of the Rapid
Eye Technology Institute, which is owned and operated
by Dr. Ranae Johnson in Salem, Oregon, USA. Rapid Eye Technology
training is available to lay and professional healers of all
kinds. Technicians are independent practitioners and offer
their services in their own areas according to the laws and
ordinances regulating their particular level of practice (licensed
or unlicensed). (Wikipedia - “Rapid Eye Technology”)
A specific subset of RET protocols are included in the Immediate
Release Technique (IRT) coursework. The full model of Rapid
Eye Technology is not offered with the IRT course and must
be obtained separately from the Rapid
Eye Institute.
Following the Katrina Hurricane Disaster, Rapid Eye Technology
IRT teams were dispatched to Biloxi, MI to work with the traumatized
911 operators suffering from Compassion Fatigue and PTSD due
to the sense of overwhelming hopelessness. The team also visited
women’s shelters in the area. In every case, both volunteers
and survivors reported significant relief in anxiety and a
renewed hope for the future.
Trainers of IRT are consistently amazed by the positive outcome
of such a simple technique. It is becoming a common belief
among practitioners that in the future IRT could easily become
as common as CPR. Among practitioners nationally, IRT has
been nicknamed “The Emotional First Aid Kit for Teachers.”
Rapid Eye Technology is not limited to the United States.
It is being used with success globally. The Rapid Eye Technology
Immediate Release Technique is also being used with success
in Israel, England, Ireland, Australia, China, Mexico, and
Kenya.
