Training
The Rapid Eye Technology Immediate Release Technique (IRT)
for 1st Responders consists of two parts:
Emergency Workers are trained in Emergency Process IRT, a
desensitizing eye movement to calm emotional distress and
assist with pain control. Included are rapport strategies,
diversion tactics and IRT documentation procedures.
This program is geared towards restoration and relief for
the emergency worker's emotional state. Providing teams with
IRT desensitizing eye movement techniques for self care, Skills
for Life (alternative coping skills), and one-on-one mentoring
tools.
Course Description and Objectives:
The IRT/Self Care course is intended to assist individuals
of various professions be more effective responders to emergency
situations. Students will learn practical techniques to help
aid clients and themselves through the stress and emotional
crisis defined as,“High Priority Emotional Issues”
or (HPEI) that accompany traumatic events.
The tools of IRT and Self Care include:
- Recognizing an emergency that would benefit from IRT/Self
Care intervention
- Recognizing when to assist an individual or group with
crisis desensitization
- Learning the skills for Life Coaching Script
- Learning 5 eye movements specific to the process
- Learning body tapping /acupressure theory
- Learning imagery theory and application
- Learning eye patching theory and application
- Administering compassion
The IRT/Self Care course instructs individuals a specific
stress release “discharge” and “quick release”
process of:
- Desensitizing trauma, catastrophic natural or man-made,
individually or with a group
- Negative emotions and behaviors
- Panic and Pain Control
- Fear or irrational fear associated with High Priority
Emotional Issues (HPEI)
- Reclaiming valuable communication skills
- Avoidance of further trauma
What is required of students
to receive an IRT Certificate
- $350.00 fee to accompany registration
form or $425.00 at the door.
- Attendance of the entire 12 hrs of instruction.
- The completion of all written and practical course materials.

- Immediate Release Technique textbook
- Scenes of Compassion textbook
- Eye patch
- Certificate of Completion from the Rapid Eye Institute,
Salem Oregon
Course Policies:
Attendance/Tardiness: Students must attend all
hours of both days to qualify for CEU’s and Certificate.
Class Participation: Participation is necessary
in order to understand the “body learning” in
the proper use of the EDD and eye patch. Instruction and practice
times are included to “pass off” on skills. All
material is provided.
Grading: A Pass/Fail evaluation system is applied
to participant’s understanding and knowledge of subjects
on the Skill Sheet.
Available Support Services: Several trainers are
available to assist students with possible questions during
the 12-hour course. Contact information for your trainer will
be made available.
A Certificate of Completion will be issued from the Rapid
Eye Institute. The Rapid Eye Institute is located in Salem,
Oregon, and is licensed as a career school through the State
of Oregon. Personnel are available for support five days a
week 9:00 am - 5:00 pm pacific time.
